| As
part of our comprehensive assessment programme we are able to offer
our clients a range of Psychometric Questionnaires and Tests. These
instruments are used to make a partial assessment of personal attributes,
such as personality, interests, aptitudes or general intellectual
ability. In the context of career counselling these instruments are
particularly useful when a client is contemplating a fundamental career
change.
The choice of test instruments, administration
of the tests, evaluation of results and reporting are undertaken
by fully qualified psychometricians and psychologists. Interpretation
of test results and careers counselling will be given by an experienced
employment specialist.
We are not restricted in our choice of tests which
may be administered singly or as a battery of tests. The recommended
combination of tests for career evaluation is as follows:
* The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)
- This is the World's leading indicator of personal styles and is
widely used in careers guidance as the cornerstone of the assessment
process. It is an untimed questionnaire usually taking some 20-30
minutes that clients find to be stimulating and enjoyable. It results
in a classification into one of sixteen personality types which
are discussed in some detail in the counselling process.
* The Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal
- By assessing five different measures of analytical and logical
reasoning it gives a clear indication of unprejudiced interpretation
of facts. It is a true test and may be timed or untimed at some
40 minutes.
* Firo-B - Based upon a comprehensive model
of interpersonal behaviour this questionnaire aims to evaluate the
way people relate to each other in a variety of contexts. It examines
expressed and wanted behaviour by reference to three fundamental
needs of interpersonal behaviour: Inclusion, Control and Affection/Openness.
The questionnaire may be completed in 20 minutes.
* The Saville and Holdsworth Advanced Occupational
Interest Inventory (AOII) - Allows clients to rate their liking
for activities relevant to jobs at a managerial and professional
level. Results are analysed into a hierarchy of nineteen occupational
categories. It is an untimed questionnaire taking about 35 minutes.
It is advisable that the full battery of
four tests are completed at a single sitting which will take about
two and a half hours.
