| The
Centigrade 2005* Higher Education Courses Programme can be taken
as a stand alone service or as an optional part of an Introductory
Consultation.
What does the Centigrade Programme do?
* It matches you with the requirements of potential
courses and selects suitable groups of course titles for your consideration.
* It selects universities and colleges offering
relevant courses within your ability range and presents these in
10 convenient geographical zones.
* It shows you how to compare and contrast alternative
courses and how to gain information about the Higher Education institutions
at which they are available
How does Centigrade work?
* First you answer the Centigrade paper questionnaire,
essentially an interview of 150 questions, designed to reveal your
interests, personal qualities and broad abilities. This takes about
40 minutes.
* Your answers are then analysed, together with
evidence of your academic record and potential.
* Your relative interests in 48 different course
areas are assessed and a 'Profile' of your strongest results is
printed out.
* Seven or eight Course Selection worksheets are
then produced, e.g. Financial, Biology-based, etc. On each, a description
of the courses and a selection of alternative course titles is given.
* Each worksheet lists universities and colleges
offering relevant courses, within your academic range, relates these
to the Centigrade Course Location Map provided with your report,
lists career opportunities and gives many other details.
* A series of Personal Course Selection Notes
is also given to help you resolve any important reservations or
doubts, expressed in your answers, about the nature of courses.
Your results are presented in an Individual Report
containing Your Interest Profile, Personal Action Plan, 7/8 Course
Analysis Forms, University & College Location Map, an explanation
of the UCAS Course Code System & Course Entry Requirements,
Calendar of Open Days, Pre-taster Courses & H E Fairs &
Checklist, explanatory notes and other back-up materials. This is
then handed to you and explained by the Careers Advisor.
* Centigrade 2005 The Higher Education Courses
Programme is produced by Cambridge Occupational Analysts (COA) and
administered in conjunction with the Universities and Colleges Admissions
System (UCAS).
