Interview Technique
The selection interview that precedes university entrance may be the first occasion on which a candidate needs to rely entirely on their own resources. It is not surprising therefore that many candidates for higher education approach the interview with some trepidation. Our aim, by the use of a mock interview situation, is to remove the mystery surrounding the interview by giving well researched advice and providing practice in effective interview techniques.

As part of our Interview Technique Scheme, we will:

* Conduct a mock-interview, recorded on video tape, with a subject specialist as appropriate. Use may be made of written essays provided by the interviewee to formulate subject-specific questions.

* Review the video tape of the mock-interview with the applicant

* Conduct a post mortem of the interview, also recorded on video tape, which the applicant can keep for further reference.

* During the post-mortem make reference to all matters affecting good technique, including:

General Preparation - Dates & Times / Travel / Attitude / Personal Strengths & Weaknesses / Career / Subject & Course / Institution / Interviewers / Current Affairs & General Reading / Likely Questions and suitable responses / Questions to put to the interviewer.

Personal Presentation - Cleanliness / Clothing / Body Language / Etiquette / Listening & Response / Speech / Confidence / Humour / Self-Marketing.
